Review | Deluge Cosmetics Fortifying Hair Mask

Huge thank you to Clara at Deluge Cosmetics for sending me their Fortifying Hair Mask. Deluge has followed me for about a year now, and I'm so glad we could collaborate on something.

Deluge is a family owned business whose passion is to create new organic and natural products. Clara started making these products in her very own kitchen initially for her own use. After getting amazing feedback from family and friends she decided to pursue this passion further. Deluge's wide range of natural beauty features a body and face scrub, body butters, massage oil, shampoos and conditioners, hair oils and the mask which I received.

You can read more about Deluge here.

If you've been following me for a while, you know that I've taken a trip or two to the salon to get my hair colored, you also know that naturally my hair is dry and frizzy and I use a TON of heat on it. Basically, I'm saying my hair is damaged. Given that I don't need to go anywhere so I don't have to style it because of COVID, Im trying to nurse it back to health slowly, so this mask could not have come at a better time.

About the mask

  • The mask is made with natural ingredients such as rosemary, lavender, peppermint, and cedarwood

  • It features 3 oils: Coconut, Baobab, Castor,

  • Also includes shea butter.

  • Retails for $32.99 but is on sale for $23.00

First Impressions

  1. Packaging: I love how big the tub is, and how the packaging lists every ingredient, and I can pronounce them which means theres no harsh chemicals. I think the size is perfect especially for people with a lot of hair who will be using a lot of product. I don't particularly like the colors on the packaging, if I saw this in a store I don't I would be drawn to it.

  2. After Opening: A strong minty odor takes over my bathroom. It's mixed with lavender, and I feel calmed as a result but all I can smell is mint, which I don't particularly enjoy. However I love the hints of lavender, and rosemary.

  3. To the touch: Very creamy, and rich. It feels like butter for your hair. It even makes my hands soft.

Application

I can never win with my hair. Depending on the hair mask, when applied after shampooing, it will either make my hair too heavy or when applied before, it will be too heavy it doesn't wash out the whole way leaving product build up. So since I have never used this before, I decided to apply pre-shampoo on wet hair.

How?

  1. First, I take a gollop of the product and massage into my hair working towards the ends because that is where the most damage is.

  2. Then, I take a comb and comb it through

  3. I left it for 5 minutes as per the directions

  4. Shampooed out and applied a conditioner

After getting out of the shower I brushed my hair again with a Wet brush. My hair felt so soft and silky, softer than it had for a long time. My hair doesn't feel heavy, which is my biggest concerns with hair masks.

Overall Thoughts/Opinions

I actually feel that this is salon quality. I loved how my hair didn't feel heavy with product after shampooing. I'm hesitant to try hair masks for this reason, it's one of my pet peeves to hair my hair feel heavy and grimy with product. Even with all of the oils in this product, my hair did not feel oily. It looked shiny and healthy. My hair smelt great too, not too minty like I had anticipated. My curls were more defined and not frizzed out as they usually are.

I would recommend this to people with a hair texture like mine, curly, wavy, frizzy, damaged hair. I think it would be too heavy for people who have thinner hair and straight hair. It could appear as if you have product buildup.

I think a lot of times, we take advantage of not knowing what is in the stuff we use. I appreciate greatly that Clara took the time on the packaging to include every ingredient she used. It makes me feel good knowing that this is something she could have potentially made at home because especially now with everything that is going on, a lot of us don't have access to buy professional hair care at a high price and I think for the price Deluge's mask is retailing for right now you get salon quality hair for a fraction of the cost.

Thank you so much for reading. Be sure to check out Deluge's other products on Amazon.

I really want to try their body scrub, its their best seller! If you do end up purchasing this item be sure to send me a DM on your thoughts and opinions!

XX,

Alyssa
